Laboratory Testing

Composite Rebar and Carbon Fiber Testing Laboratory

One of the weaknesses of concrete is its tensile strength.  The tensile strength can be increased with the us rebar and fibers.  The advantages of CFRP rebar and Carbon fibers over its steel counter part is that it does not corrode which will increase the pressure leading to cracks.

We perform physical testing of both CFRP rebar and Carbon fibers to various standards. Testing is crucial in determining the characteristics of these materials so that one may predict its general performance and the effect it will have on the concrete. Our team brings experience with both routine and specialized testing.

SGS TEC actively participates in the development of ASTM and ICRI test methods

Standards we’ve worked to develop are those that involve epoxies and resins, concrete, aggregates coatings, polymers, consumer products, and cementitious based products

SGS TEC Services is an accredited laboratory certified in accordance with the recognized International Standard ISO/IEC 17025, ASTM, AASHTO and US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) test methods and specifications.

One of our goals for the past several years has been to eliminate the need to subcontract services to other parties. By doing so, we help further ensure that quality work is being performed by trained personnel utilizing the proper equipment and correct methodology.
